Is there anything my friend can do?

I have this friend whose mother forces her to go visit her dad (parents are divorced) in Colombia for a month in the summer. Obviously, this seems very fair. Her mother has full custody but the father has visitation rights so no matter how much she whines and complains, she still has to go. Thing is, her dad's wife is really rude to her and she just absolutely hates being over there. Her mother wont change the duration of the trip or anything. Is there anything she can possibly do?
